Record that your work already existed on this date.

Register the fingerprint of your file on the public XRP Ledger — without sharing or publishing your work. A verifiable timestamp, before you bring it out.

A verifiable moment, before you share.

Why record your work?

ProofReg records that your file existed at a certain moment, with an independent timestamp on the XRP Ledger.

As a maker you sometimes want to show that a work already existed on a certain date — before a pitch, before publication, or before you share it with others. ProofReg records the fingerprint of your file with a verifiable timestamp for exactly that, without you having to show the work itself.

Only those 64 characters go to the ledger; your file stays on your own computer. To be honest about it: ProofReg proves this file existed then — not that you are the maker or rights holder. That is a separate, legal matter.

What ProofReg does and does not prove here

ProofReg proves the existence of a file at a moment, and explicitly leaves authorship and ownership out of scope.

What it does show

  • That this exact file existed at this moment.
  • That you held it then to record it.
  • That the file has not been changed undetectably since.

What it does not do

  • Prove who the maker is — that is authorship.
  • Prove who the rights holder or owner is.
  • Give any judgment on rights or licences.

When does it matter?

ProofReg helps at any moment where it later matters that your work already existed on a certain date.

Before a pitch

Record your work before you show it to a client.

Before publication

Register the version you publish, with a verifiable moment.

In collaboration

Record which version existed before you share it.

In a portfolio

A timestamp per work makes your timeline verifiable.

How do you record an artwork?

ProofReg records your work in three steps: choose your file, record the moment, and verify it later.

01

Choose your file

An image, PDF, audio or video file — anything works. Your browser calculates the fingerprint locally; nothing is uploaded.

02

Record the moment

The fingerprint goes onto the public XRP Ledger with a timestamp. Your work itself stays private.

03

Keep the certificate

You receive a certificate id and verification link. Anyone can later check that this file existed then.

Certificate included

And the proof itself? Also recorded — free.

ProofReg automatically creates a certificate with every registration and anchors that certificate itself on the XRP Ledger too, at no extra cost.

You receive the certificate by email. The certificate can carry the email address it was sent to; because it is delivered by email, whoever holds it had access to that mailbox at that moment — so the proof is tied to an email address, not to a verified identity.

Because the certificate itself is on the ledger, no one can undetectably alter or backdate it afterwards — not even us. So even your proof has a proof, which anyone can verify without ProofReg.

What ProofReg does and does not prove

Does

  • ProofReg proves that this exact SHA-256 fingerprint existed on the XRP Ledger before a certain time.
  • The ledger transaction, certificate id, hash and ledger timestamp are public and verifiable without an account.
  • Optionally, ProofReg records a public label and registrant name chosen by you.

Does not

  • Who created the document or who holds rights to it.
  • Whether the content behind the fingerprint is formally valid.
  • Whether a self-entered registrant name was independently checked.
  • What is inside the file — ProofReg does not see the file.

Frequently asked questions

What does ProofReg record?

ProofReg records that this exact SHA-256 fingerprint, with the label and registrant you entered, existed on the XRP Ledger before the recorded ledger timestamp. That is independent and publicly verifiable, without sharing the document.

Is this copyright, a patent or a notarial deed?

No. ProofReg is not a notarial service and does not establish copyright or a patent. ProofReg dates the existence of a fingerprint on the public ledger. It provides proof of existence-on-a-date — often exactly what you need before you share, submit or publish something.

Is my file uploaded?

No. Your browser calculates the SHA-256 fingerprint locally. Only those 64 characters, plus an optional label or registrant you choose, are recorded. The file never leaves your computer.

What is ProofReg Duo?

ProofReg Duo lets two parties each record the same document independently. Only when both fingerprints match exactly does the mutual registration complete. It proves you both held the same version, not that you agreed.

What does a registration cost?

A registration costs from €1, paid with credits. Verifying a certificate is always free and account-free.

Does this prove the work is mine?

No. ProofReg proves that a file with this content existed at a moment and that you could record it then — not that you are the maker or rights holder. Authorship and ownership are out of scope.

Do I have to upload my work?

No. Your browser calculates the fingerprint locally; only those 64 characters go to the ledger. Your work stays on your own computer and is not shared or published.
